Cassandra Iannetti from LAURAL HOUSE gave a talk on their main function of identifying, locating, and assisting in the prevention of abuse. She emphasized that abuse takes many forms not just the domestic violence that many envision. Abuse can be verbal, mental, emotional, as well as physical, and there is a need to be aware of all its forms. Besides offering shelter to abused women, the HOUSE gives counseling assistance to couples and teenagers, a 24 hour hot line and more detailed 24 hr Response Center, legal help, and transitional housing assistance.
