LIZZIE HESSEK Program Manager in the Pa. Environmental Council, spoke to the club about river and trail developments in the Norristown area, specifically the Schulkill River Trail. The goals of her group are to preserve and protect the area landscape, improve access to river locations, and promote the towns along area rivers for tourism and path use. The Schulkill River Trail has been selected as The Best River Trail in the USA by USA TODAY and is the center point for their project of RIVERTOWN PROGRAMS. The program promotes the towns, details access points to the river and trail, works to connect trails and promote community engagement.One of their major accomplishments is getting the Sullivan Bridge completed over the Schulkill at Valley Forge.
