Last week we enjoyed a New Member Talk from Mary Treisbach. She would probably be annoyed if called her the Club's First Lady, so I wont. She did relate though that she became a Rotary member as a birthday present for her husband, President Alan. She was number four of six children in a family that was always very competitive, a background that in 2003, allowed her to become a champion on JEOPARDY!
Mary with Alex in 2003. Apparently she likes the color lime green
After graduating for Penn Business School, she worked in ad agencies in NYC and Philadelphia before joining Subaru in their marketing department , becoming the Marketing Manager involved in marketing research and developing new marketing strategies. She left Subaru in 1995 and ventured into self employment in the consulting field , which led to many fascinating experiences as she worked with several companies in a variety of fields: PECO, Pen Dot, Martin Guitar, Peterson's Guide, several grad schools, Flavor International, Gunardies, Jane's Fighting Ships, and a few high tech firms where she was tasked with making high level technical jargon understandable to the masses. In a desire to give back to the community, she took to helping non-profits and worked with many organizations.
Mary and Alan retired in 2020 although the title of retired is somewhat deceiving as she is involved with many non-profits like the West Norriton Art Commission, International Women's Club of Philadelphia, St. Peters Church, the Literacy Center, and The Rotary Club of Norristown, to name a few.
Her hobbies include playing Scrabble, working with flowers, travel, and following the EAGLES, 76'rs, and the Phillies.
Thank you, Mary for sharing your interesting past with us.
Rumors were floating that they expected 15,000 attendees at the East Norriton Trunk or Treat event Friday night.. That is number is doubtful, however there easily could have been a thousand or more in mass. The car line kept coming and coming non-stop for the first hour and half straight. We distributed pounds and pounds of candy and sugar in just two hours.
Thank you, Rotarians for your generosity and spirit. The kids really enjoyed it. They were a little pensive about Uncle Festor at first, and frankly the head mask was so real, several told us the kids had no idea at first. But once the candy appeared, their apprehension eased very quickly. Before the night was out, everyone was snapping their fingers to the catchy theme song. There were over 20-30 trunks of decorations and delights. The East Norriton Fire Company even had a roaring bonfire for us on a chilly night.
Many thanks to our Rotarians who came out and helped make it happen.
And especially a huge thank you to Rotarians Tim and Liz Meyers for all their planning, hard work organizing and executing this highly successfully and most fun event, your costumes and decorations were fantastic. So creative ..
Their truck was a MUSEE' UM, they really were a SCREE 'UM, so glad you could come SEE 'UM... The Meyers family.🫰🫰
