A Request from District Governor Janet Kolepp

Dear Rotarians,

Rotary Zones 28 and 32 (which includes our District 7430) are partnering with Zone 33 to respond to the COVID-19 crisis in India.  We have received a special request from RI Director Valarie Wafer for donations from Rotary Clubs and Rotarians to a special fund to assist with providing oxygen concentrators.

Rotarians are partnering with a disaster relief organization, SEWA International (SEWA). The goal is to raise $250,000 which SEWA will match. SEWA is an international organization recognized in the United States as a 501(c)(3) charity with a 4-star charity navigator rating. Learn more about SEWA’s campaign to defeat COVID-19 in India at https://www.sewausa.org/Covid-19-India.

Those partners will purchase the oxygen concentrators in Singapore and elsewhere and have them shipped to India. RI Director Kamal Sanghvi, of Kolkata (formerly Calcutta), and other Indian Rotarians there will be involved in the distribution and transportation of these products to the most critical parts of India.

If you would like to donate, please send your support checks to the Rotary District 6400 Foundation, with your email ID.

* LAST WEEK

DOMINQUE BERNARDO- Children's Charity of Del. Valley

Lest Thursday, the Club welcomed Dominique Bernardo CEO of  VARIETY- The Children's Charity of Delaware Valley to tell us of all the new structure and initiatives of the organization. VARIETY is the new name for the organization formerly known as The Variety Club, which we have supported for years, and they operate out of the same camp area in Worchester. Dominique , who has been with them for three years, explained the groups mission: To enrich the lives of children with disabilities through social, educational, and vocational programs designed to prepare them for surviving in today's world. They work with youth ages 5 thru 24, developing their social skills by interaction with each other, and in later years , with the community by working with partnering companies in the area, and thru programs that have been developed by Variety, like their fresh produce garden.
Volunteers are always welcomed for the summer camp program. For further information and to make donations, contact Dominique at:    Dominique.bernardo@varietyphila.org

Thank you, Dominique for bringing us up to date on Variety.

100 Books for 100 Years
‘100 books for 100 years’-

'”Greetings Rotarians and Librarians” was the opening rhyme from Louise Zawadzki, President of the Rotary Club of Norristown (left). Today the Rotary Club of Norristown visited the Montgomery County Public Library in Norristown to celebrate the Rotary Club’s 100th birthday by donating 100 children’s books. With Louise accepting the gift, (right), is Karen DeAngelo, Exec. Director of the Library. The Rotary Club has partnered with the Library on various local projects. The Club also donated a Children's Learning Center Activity Room at the Library in the past.
