RASHAAD BATES. W-Waste Gang
Last week, RASHAAD BATES delivered a tale on the second in our series on Artificial Intelligence. He compared AI to a parrot that listens to audiobooks, and has the ability to hear, catalog, and repeat information or words in a manner that helps understand patterns. At this time, it is not yet self aware, and thus has no moral guidelines and should be monitored and kept in check. Many programs, systems, and apps us AI extensively, often without us even knowing it. He pointed out its ability to draw on data from long ago and detect and present patterns that it observes. He presented several examples of how different programs are using AI.
Rashaad talked specifically about the five areas the AI can help adults and seniors.
Health Care is one on the most important as it is already hard at work in our pacemakers, hearing aids, smart watches, analyzing in real time , the personal data and send us warnings. It will also play a big part in diagnosis and research.
A second area is what he terms: Tape Measure tools, helping us solve problems.
Next area is Pen and Paper tasks: All forms of writing, whether essays, stories, or creating resumes, where AI can dig up items of your history that you may have overlooked but are pertinent.
Translation: as AI easily helps to improve communication in almost all languages.
Light Bulbs- helps you create ideas.
He also highlighted the potential risks that are present in using AI , such as misuse of patterns, hallucinations by AI, linking to wrong websites, and misinformation. AI can also make detecting scams more difficult. They appear more personal and genuine.
He highlighted a couple of myths about AI: IT does NOT. think like a human, It is NOT always correct, as there could be inaccuracies in its programming., and it will not take over the world if we are vigilant,
Thank you, Rashaad for this talk.
