FRAN HELD- MITZVAH CIRCLE
Last week, we heard a message from FRAN HELD- founder and Executive Director MITZVAH CIRCLE, an organization dedicated to helping complete families that are in need of items that are not covered by government assistance: clothing, school supplies, feminine hygiene products and supplies, diapers, and many other non-food items. Fran, starting from scratch, and almost by chance, started personally helping others and grew the function into today's organization ,serving over 32,000 families last year. Their activities include taking care of the needs of infants through seniors, buying needed items, and delivering them to the client's homes, thus eliminating as many barriers to those in need getting the help they need. MITZVAH works with 215 partnering organizations, and 200 agencies for referrals. They are one of very few groups that concentrate on disposable diapers, and feminine products, costly items that are not covered elsewhere. They also provide counseling and critical information on finding further help to individuals.
