PATRICK BRODERICK - POWER UP UKRAINE
Last Thursday, PATRICK BRODERICK spoke to us on a very critical and time sensitive topic, supplying emergency power to the Ukraine's hospitals and schools. The organization he is with, POWER UP UKRAINE, is doing just that with help from Rotary Clubs around the world who sponsor the production and implementation of solar-hybrid power systems from NEW USE ENERGY into Eastern Ukraine, where most of the devastation has occurred.
Patrick has worked with several area Rotary Clubs which have donated money to purchase these generators for hospitals and schools where the need for reliable back up power is the greatest. The power grid there is devastated and will take years to replace, so the use of mini systems like the NUE units , fill the critical needs in the area.
Rotary has taken an interest in this humanitarian project and has been designated as the local point for collecting funds. Patrick gave a couple examples for local Clubs funding units for specific programs such as supplying units for the blood drives in the Ukraine. These are special in that they process the blood on the spot, thus requiring steady, dependable power under extreme conditions.
