SAVE TUESDAY NOV. 16-- PACK DINNER BASKETS
               AT OIC.  -  9:30

Last year we were able to help 75 families with a turkey and a freshly baked pie from Kriebel’s bakery, 60 senior citizens with a Valentine treat and 25 low income residents with a ham or chicken at Easter because of your wonderful donations to the Turkey drive.  We are hoping to be able to partner with some other organizations this year to help the ever growing need in the Norristown community.  Asking for donations to the Rotary Club of Norristown so we can help the hungry.   Please remember there have been no lunches to buy or 50-50 during this entire year!   Thank you for your generosity.

Also, if you would like to contribute gift cards, send the in.

Looking for cooks!
The Hollinger family (4) could use a break from cooking meals while Jim rehabs at home!  They like everything but do need gluten free!  Let me know if you can help 610-513-2431.  Judy Bucko

LAST WEEK

Last week the Club welcomed our District Governor, BOB HOBAUGH to address our meeting. Bob, accompanied by Area 9 Coordinator, CLINT EHLERS, outlined the goals for the District for this year.     Bob stressed this year's theme of Serve To Change Lives, and listed several steps on how to accomplish this. We need to look for ways to change not only ourselves but others by looking for new and innovative ways to serve the community.Partnering with others is one way, which we do in our Turkey Dinner, Advocates Against Hunger projects, and Dictionary Projects. Bob use analogies to sailing (see card below on an upcoming program) to present steps we can take to advance club projects. 1-Chart your course, ,2 -Set sail, 3- enjoy the trip.
He outlined how a club like Norristown can expand its reach by selecting projects that follow the ROTARY guidelines, setting measurable goals and the steps to reach them, sharing our accomplishments with the community in print, social media, and other advertising, and expanding our membership. He pointed out the need to recruit younger members by 'closing the deal' on the membership process, which involves all of us.
He left us with the message " Service Can Be Transformative" and it is up to us.

Thank You Bob for visiting our Club.

Technical Tip:

Technical Tip: Keep my gmail out of promotions
        But, It's NOT Spam.

Is some of your expected gmail missing from the Inbox?

Aside from regular spam filtering, sometimes Google also takes  a guess at your incoming gmail and pre-categorizes it in order to cut down on spam. The Tabs 'Social' and 'Promotions' capture some of your email instead.
Well, Google doesn't always get it right.

Fortunately, even though that is the default setting, you can change the setting and control your pre-categorization completely and get all your mail back in the old inbox.
YOU can select select the problem email in 'Promotions' and drag it to the inbox,  OR....
A more reliable way is to control your own categories  or  simply have none at all.  If you uncheck the 'Social" and 'Promotions' categories in settings, your future email will not appear in those virtual folders but rather in your old inbox as expected.

Here's what you do to fix it.
Go to your inbox settings link. https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#settings/inbox
Uncheck the boxes 'Social' and 'Promotions', AND CLICK SAVE
From now on it will appear in the old inbox as expected.
